So how does Spindrift earn such acclaim and continue its exponential growth in the sea of sparkling waters already in the market? By doing something no-one else is; using only fresh squeezed real fruit to flavor their sparkling beverages. Yep, that’s it. Seems so common sense that it’s hard to believe they are the first, but it’s true. Every other sparkling beverage you’ll find in the market uses some sort of non-descript “natural flavors” as an ingredient, which for the most part are an unknown and honestly, it may be best they stay that way.
When Spindrift first came to us to help rebrand the company under the simple premise that “Real is Better”, we thought it might be too good to be true. It’s not very often you get the opportunity work on a brand that is looking to be an industry leader with such a simple brand promise, and has the team and product to support it.
By developing the communication strategy around this simple, yet vast “real” promise, we created a product story that people can relate to in times when transparency is king. Our first goal was to design a packaging system that would let people into this story upon initial contact at the retail level. Using bold color blocking, large fruit illustrations, and simple straightforward messaging with a touch of personality, we put the promise front and center for the consumer latch on to. From there we parlayed this visual design strategy across every touch point making sure every expression of the brand was speaking the same language. And it seems to be working.
